EV Tax Credit Expiration

On July 4, President Trump signed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” into law, which includes a provision to phase out the federal electric vehicle (EV) tax credit for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. “Acquired” refers to when the customer takes delivery and legal ownership of the vehicle, not when the vehicle is ordered or reserved.

If your customers are hoping to utilize the federal tax credits, they’ll need to complete the acquisition—including taking delivery—before September 30, 2025. This means that unless an EV is delivered and titled by September 30, it will no longer be eligible for the tax credit under the revised federal program.
