Tragic News in Our Community

All of us at MADA are deeply saddened by the tragic events of June 14. We mourn the loss of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark, and their golden retriever Gilbert. Our thoughts are also with Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, as we pray for their full recovery. We are grateful to law enforcement for their swift actions to protect others and apprehend the suspect.

This tragedy has deeply impacted the Minnesota Capitol community. Scott, Amanda, and Trisha had the privilege of working closely with the victims over many years. Political violence has no place in our democracy, and we hope this horrific event inspires a renewed commitment to respectful public discourse.
